This is an illustrated collection of epitaphs divided into sections, such as death, resurrection, the professions and trades, eulogies and epitaphs quaint and curious. The book contains a wide range of photographs depicting the stones on which the epitaphs are carved or written. Many of the stones are artfully sculpted indicators of the fashions of past times. Some of the stones are eccentric and peculiar, but all yield insights into the society of times past.
