John Rice was born in Glasgow and spent his childhood in Saltcoats, Ayrshire. For over thirty years he has followed a career as a poet, children's writer, editor, storyteller, performer and photographer, having published books for children, edited a wide selection of arts and literary magazines and anthologies, as well as having written extensively for adults. John Rice is married with two sons and a daughter.
