Scottish Voices from the Second World War by Derek Young

Presents the experiences of Scottish soldiers during the Second World War in their own words. This book includes descriptions ranging from the brutal hardships suffered by General Slim's 'forgotten' 14th Army as it fought its way through Burma to the large scale onslaught of the D-Day landings to the deprivations of the Siege of Malta.
Derek Young is a Research Fellow at the Unversity of Stirling. He made a national appeal across Scotland through the media for veterans to come forward to be interviewed and diaries to be sent in for consideration. His other books include the widely praised Scottish Voices from the First World War, also published by Tempus. He lives in Dundee.
