The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
One of our hand-picked classics that no home should be without, about the healing powers of friendship and nature in a stunning new edition. The secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles. Mary Lennox has grown up in India, surrounded by colour and life, and people who always do exactly what she wants. When her parents die, she is sent to her uncle's cold and lonely manor on the Yorkshire moors. There she finds the house and the gardens full of secrets. And unearthing them might just lead to the greatest discovery of all.
Frances Hodgson Burnett was born in Manchester in 1849 but moved to Tennessee in 1865 when her family fell on hard times. There she began writing stories to earn money and soon became a successful novelist, playwright and children's author of such well-loved works as Little Lord Fauntleroy and A Little Princess. She maintained houses in England and the USA and wrote The Secret Garden in her Long Island, New York, home.
