Self-Regulation Skills in Young Children by Sue Asquith

This guide to self-regulation in children helps early years practitioners get to grips with child development through accessible theory, useful reflection tasks and practice ideas to try. It offers coping strategies to use with children in schools, at home and beyond.
An essential tool for parents, teachers and carers, hoping to positively influence a child's journey into a future that holds increasing uncertaintySue's easy to follow theories and practical activities allow you to facilitate a haven of learning in which children feel physically and emotionally safe. -- Beverley Petch-Sencier, Head Teacher of the award-winning Kensington International Kindergarten and International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT)National committee member.

Reading this book is similar to listening to Sue's training webinars - packed full of useful information with links to her sources of information so the reader can further explore the subject.
I liked the layout of the book - the first half is the theory sections with reflective tasks to help keep the reader on track and think about their own practice. The second half has lots of practical ideas and case studies which helps to put the theory into practice.
The book is written in plain English and is aimed at new practitioners, parents/carers and others who want to refresh their knowledge.

-- Pat Tomlinson, Early Years Trainer and Assessor
