Maia Bang (1873-1940), a violinist from Norway, trained with Gudbrand Bhn and graduated from the Leipzig Conservatory; she also studied with Henri Marteau and Leopold Auer. She began her career in Oslo, where she established a music school, and then moved to the United States. Leopold Auer (1845-1930), a famous Hungarian violinist, was also a conductor, composer, and instructor. Generations of students have profited from his Violin Playing as I Teach It, which has been available in a Dover edition for decades.
