The Seventh Inning Sit by Karen Lowry

Finally, support, advice, and direction for families struggling with the diagnosis of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. In The Seventh Inning Sit, author, ADHD Parent to Parent Family Instructor, and pediatric nurse Karen Lowry demystifies a disorder that affects three to five percent of American children. In this powerful first-hand narrative, she reveals her own poignant journey with her youngest son, for whom she was forced to learn how to become an advocate for his educational rights in a system wrought with inaction and ignorance. From the ups and downs, the need for education, support and communication within the system, she shares her emotionally wrought experience of testing the waters in order to improve the life of her child. Written for the layperson at the initial phases of diagnosis, Lowry provides hope and stability to families in need.
Karen Lowry has a B.S.N. degree in nursing from the College of New Jersey and a master's in pediatric nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She has worked at Children's Hospital as a staff nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit and as a nursing instructor at Holy Family University in Philadelphia. She is also a Parent2Parent certified ADHD family instructor. She and her husband have four children and live in New Jersey.
