Shadow Games by Glen Cook

From international bestseller Glen Cook comes the fifth book in the chronicles of The Black Company — the series that forever changed the face of fantasy.

The war against the Dominator is over and the empire stands on the brink of an uneasy peace. But victory has come at a staggering price.

The Lady is stripped of her power, and the Black Company is a shadow of itself — a ragged handful of survivors. With no other path open, Croaker, the Company’s new captain, turns to the Annals and half-forgotten legend in search of answers. Their destination: Khatovar — the fabled birthplace of the Black Company.

Uncovering their history may yet decide their future — if they can survive the journey there.

Glen Cook grew up in northern California, served in the U.S. Navy, attended the University of Missouri, and was one of the earliest graduates of the well-known Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers’ Workshop. Since 1971 he has published a large number of Science Fiction and fantasy novels, including the occult-detective ‘Garrett’ novels, and the very popular ‘Black Company’ sequence that began with the publication of The Black Company in 1984. After working many years for General Motors, Cook now writes full-time. He lives near St. Louis, Missouri, with his wife Carol.
