How all this affects (or is mostly disregarded by) the inhabitants of small Devon towns and villages, who have other things on their minds - how to ensure a sufficiency of food; how they may simply get on with their day-to-day lives; how to protect their

children. How some survivors of the various 'battles' manage to make a life for

themselves when the fighting stops.

James E. Marshall, Jr., a long-time Bisbee resident, died in 2009. Jim was born and raised in Evergreen, Colorado. He attended Menlo Junior College in Palo Alto, CA, and the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO, after graduating from Colorado Academy in 1965. He went home to work in the family firm, JN Marshall Company, Inc., after spending his junior year traveling in Europe. for a few of years

Jim relocated to Bisbee, Arizona, where he spent the remainder of his life reading, writing, and performing odd jobs, always a dreamer and with a love of the old west. His literary legacy includes several novels, as well as numerous poetry, short tales, and essays, most of which remain unpublished. His relatives and friends will miss his charm and sense of humour.
