Toby Neal was born and reared on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. At the age of five, she penned and painted her first story. Toby cites her experience as a counselor for giving her characters more complexity, from the villains to Lei Texeira, the brave multicultural protagonist of the Lei Crime Series.
