Do More than See the Problem--Learn How You Can Help

A woman in pain needs more than condolence cards or affirmation hugs. She needs space to process. She needs to feel understood. She needs to be guided towards hope. A woman in pain needs a shepherd.

That's why this book by Dr. Bev Hislop and her colleagues is such an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to care for the women in their life. With biblical wisdom and years of experience, each contributor outlines all a shepherd needs to know to help women through painful circumstances like abuse, infertility, and incarceration. This updated and revised edition now features a chapter on sexuality by clinical psychologist Dr. Juli Slattery.

Delight in becoming a source of healing and hope for the women who need it most. And become equipped to do so with Shepherding Women in Pain.

Shepherding Women in Pain fills a real void in the Christian Pastoral and Counseling library. Dr. Hislop helps caregivers to see more clearly the unique ways in which women have been sinned against and the wounds they carry. Additionally, she provides us with helpful information and strategies to bring healing and wholeness in the lives of women. I highly recommend this book.
--Ronald E. Hawkins, D.Min., Ed.D. member of the executive board for the American Association of Christian Counselors, and vice provost for online and graduate programs at Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia

Shepherding Women in Pain is a book every Christian leader needs! This is the most thorough, up-to-date ministry tool I've read in years.
--Carol Kent, speaker and author of When I Lay My Isaac Down and A New Kind of Normal

Bev Hislop has written a wonderfully practical go-to book that should be within an arm's reach of everyone who cares about women.
--Kay Warren, founder, HIV/AIDS Initiative, Saddleback Church, Lake Forest, California
