Johannes Hirschberger was born in 1900. He was educated at the High School of Philosophy and Theology in Eichstatt and at the University of Munich where he graduated in 1930. In 1939 he accepted the Chair of the History of Philosophy in Eichstatt. Since 1953 he has been teaching philosophy in Frankfurt.
