The Silkie by Sandra Horn
Living alone by the sea, Wee Jeannie doesn't realise how lonely she is. Until she falls in love with a Silkie from deep under the sea, who casts off his sealskin and comes ashore in human form under a full moon. Only by trickery and magic will the Silkie stay with Jeannie forever.
Sandra Ann Horn lectures at Southampton University as well as writing for children. Her first book, TATTYBOGLE, published by Hodder in paperback in September 1996, was shortlisted for the Smarties Prize and the Kurt Maschler Award.
