"Simple Men" tells the story of two brothers, thrown together in search of their father. The pair confront their expectations of themselves and their attitudes towards women. It was premiered as part of the Official Competition at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival. "Trust" is a provocative comedy of suburban middle America. A young woman struggles to gain a sense of her own self-worth through the discovery that it may be possible to trust another person. It won "Best Screenplay" at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival. Hal Hartley is an American filmmaker, writer, director, producer, and composer. Hartley has won numerous awards at Cannes and Sundance, and has had his work shown in retrospectives around the world. He maintains his own production company, Possible Films, in New York City.
