
A Sin of Colour by Sunetra Gupta
This is the story of three generations, and of a house in Calcutta called Mandalay. Built by a British officer, it passes into the hands of the wealthy Roy family, but their fortunes fluctuate and, by the time Debendranath Roy returns to Mandalay, it has become a house full of ghosts.
Gupta, Sunetra: - SUNETRA GUPTA's previous four novels have been awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award, the Southern Arts Literature Prize, shortlisted for the Crossword Award, and longlisted for the Orange Prize. She was born in Calcutta and now lives in Oxford, where she is a professor of theoretical epidemiology at Oxford University.
