Sleep in Peace Tonight by James Macmanus

January, 1941. The Blitz is devastating England. Food supplies are low and tube stations have become bomb shelters. As the U.S. maintains its sceptical isolationist position, Winston Churchill knows that Britain is doomed without the aid of its powerful ally. As bombs rain down over London, a weary Harry Hopkins, President Roosevelt's most trusted advisor, is sent to London as his emissary and comes face to face with the Prime Minister himself, as well as a determined female driver who may not be what she seems. A tale of loyalty, love, and the sacrifices made in the name of each, Sleep in Peace Tonight conjures the poignant lives of those who shaped the course of history during Britain's darkest hour

'A gripping, racy retelling of historyClosely researched, the book gives a vivid and moving picture of that period in 1941 when Britain really was facing the abyss and when the foundations of the UK-US special relationship were laid. London of the Blitz comes vividly to life... Compulsive reading' Simon Mawer, author of The Glass Room

'An enlightening and deeply pleasurable read' Margaret Leroy, author of The Soldier's Wife

'Readers will savour this breathtaking ride, that is both a heady, heartbreaking romance and a chance to witness this critical moment in history from the shoulders of giants fantastic!' Pam Jenoff, author of The Kommandant's Girl
