Small Livestock Housing by Joe Jacobs

Anyone who is interested in keeping birds, poultry and other outdoor varieties of caged animal will know that the most expensive part of their hobby is probably purchasing the housing. However, for a modest financial outlay it is possible to make your own livestock housing and this practical book shows you exactly how to do it. What sets the book apart from others is that the author has taken the time to try his own ideas out. He has actually built all the housing projects that are described and has taken photographs at the important stages of construction.
Joe Jacobs obtained an undergraduate degree in marine engineering and postgraduate degree in hydrography from the University of Plymouth before joining the Royal Navy and training as a helicopter pilot. After leaving the military he never intended to be a farmer but Joe and his wife 'inadvertantly' started a smallholding, which set them on a journey into the unknown. Joe's engineering background, and his ability to turn his hand to a variety of tasks, has stood him in good stead as a farmer. He now has a pig farm in North Yorkshire where he works full time and writes farming DIY-related books and magazine articles.
