A man is missing. He was a Junior Something in the British Embassy in Bonn with a refugee background. Also 43 confidential files are missing. London's security officer, Alan Turner, is sent to Bonn to locate the missing man and files as Germany's past, present and future threaten to collide in a nightmare of violence.
John le Carre was born in 1931. He attended the universities of Bern and Oxford and later taught at Eton. He spent five years in the British Secret Service.
