Connor's grandad has gone into an experimental bungalow run by caring robots. But Nurse Bot, the robot in charge, starts to become alarmingly bossy and ends up imprisoning Grandad in the bungalow. Susan Gates was born in Grimsby. When she was at school her favourite reading was science fiction and she had a craze for American Literature, especially detective fiction. She went on to study American Literature at Warwick University. She then became a teacher and taught in Malawi, Africa. She has three children and lives in County Durham, England.
