A Snowy Owl Story by Melissa Kim

One winter, as food gets scarce, a snowy owl finds himself forced to look in new and unfamiliar spots in order to find food and a place to call home. Based on a true story, A Snowy Owl Story describes, through the tale of one particular owl, the recent irruption of snowy owls all across the United States. Through this simple narrative, youngsters will learn about migration, adaptation, and respectful human interaction with nature. This unique title (first in a projected series of four board books) is written and designed specifically for a preschool market; few board books exist that tell conservation stories for this age range. Published in cooperation with Maine Audubon.
Hope Rowan likes looking under seaweed, mucking around in dirt, and studying maps. She has spent the past 15 years creating, designing, and teaching children about maps as a certified Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Professional. Her first tent camping in Maine was in a crib and she was introduced to the trails of Acadia from her father's shoulders. Rowan's vacation experiences in Acadia led her to attend the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, where she received her M.Phil. in human ecology. Now she lives on Mount Desert Island with Acadia National Park as her backyard. Her first children's guide book, Ten Days in Acadia, came out in 2017.

Jada Fitch is an illustrator living in Addison, Maine. Her work can be found everywhere from bookshops to nature trails. She frequently works with Maine Audubon, Liberty Graphics, park foundations, publishers, and magazines. She has illustrated the Wildlife on the Move series of board books and the guidebook Ten Days in Acadia for Islandport Press. Fitch is also the creator of the popular Home Tweet Home window feeder, a decorated tiny home for birds. When not at her desk, Fitch is bird watching or taking photos in the forest.
