Each has contributed a recipe to this beautifully illustrated cookbook of delicious soups from around the world.Barbara Abdeni Massaad is a food writer, television broadcaster, cookbook author, and frequent contributor to international cuisine publications. She is the author of the globally acclaimed Soup for Syria: Recipes to Honor Our Common Humanity, as well as Mouneh: Preservation Foods for the Lebanese Pantry, which earned the Gourmand Cookbook Prize and the International Academy of Gastronomy Award. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon, and migrated to Florida as a child. She got her first taste of cooking while working at her father's family's Lebanese restaurant, Kebabs and Stuff. She decided to follow her passion for cooking after returning to Lebanon in 1988 and completing university there.
Barbara trained with various prominent chefs at Lebanese, Italian, and French restaurants, determined to get suitable expertise in the culinary field. She is a founding member of Slow Food Beirut and an active member of the Slow Food International movement. Her husband and three children reside with her in Beirut.
