Mike Searle is an Oxford University Earth Sciences Professor. During the past 30 years, he has focused on the geology of the Himalaya, Karakoram, Tibet, and Southeast Asia, integrating geological field research with mountaineering journeys to the higher peaks. He co-edited four books for the Geological Society of London and is the author of Geology and Tectonics of the Karakoram Mountains. He's also appeared in two television shows: BBC World Story and History Channel's How the Earth Was Formed.
