South West Wales Through the Lens of Harry Squibbs Pembrokeshire by Pam Fudge
Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Pembrokeshire is a maritime county with a rich and varied history. Despite developments in industry and agriculture over the years, the area has lost none of its stunning natural beauty and characteristic rural feel. Home to bustling towns and idyllic country villages, Pembrokeshire has a unique story to tell. Author Pam Fudge invites the reader on a journey through historic Pembrokeshire, beautifully illustrated with photographs and postcards produced by her grandfather, Harry Squibbs, a local photographer and artist working in the first half of the 1900s. As well as showcasing the area's quaint towns, villages and picturesque countryside, the photographs in this second volume provide a unique insight into developments in photographic technique and postcard production at the turn of the century. This volume is essential reading for anyone who knows and loves this historic county and for those with an interest in photographic and postcard production at that time.
Pam Fudge is a retired teacher, manager, lecturer and tutor, who spent thirty-seven years working in education both in Central Africa and the United Kingdom. This has been varied, including primary, secondary schools and adult education; mostly in the fields of English as a Second Language and Special Educational Needs. Her pastimes include reading, writing, travelling to unusual places in the world and, like her grandfather, painting and photography. She has previously produced a volume on Cardiganshire, based on her grandfather’s work.
