Special People, Special Places by Janet Marshall
This book seeks to enable Key Stage Two teachers to introduce children to the exciting and challenging concept of pilgrimage as part of their RE lessons. All the material is curriculum-linked in order to supplement the teaching of various units of study in the QCA national framework for RE and QCA non-statutory guidelines. The book is divided into three separate, yet interdependent, sections, each containing teacher fact files, creative activities, photocopiable worksheets, questions for discussion, drama, and ideas for art and craft, dance and music.
Janet Marshall trained as a teacher, specialising in Religious Studies and English with Drama. She took up her current post of Education Officer at the Anglican Shrine, Walsingham in 1996 where she set up and developed the Education Centre. Janet enjoys teaching the many school children who come through its doors and is a frequent visitor to schools where she leads assemblies and shares her knowledge of Christian pilgrimage with children.
