Speedway in London by Norman Jacobs

In the years on either side of the Second World War, London was the center of the speedway world at a time when the sport was seriously challenging soccer. This affectionate history looks at Wembley, West Ham, New Cross, Haringay, and all the other famous tracks, and chronicles the sport's development in the city.
Norman Jacobs is now retired after working at The British Museum for 37 years. He founded and was the chairman of the Clacton & District Local History Society for 27 years. He also helps run the Clacton Museum. He was previously chairman of The Museums in Essex Committee and is currently secretary of the Essex Archaeological and Historical Congress. He gives talks on various aspects of Clacton's history throughout Essex and East London.
