The Spider of Sarajevo by Robert Wilton

A novel of shadows, intrigue and manipulation in a Europe teetering on the brink of the Great War...
The Spider of Sarajevo is a tour de force of delicate, intricate, glorious spy craft.. The depth of passion and intellect shines from the page... If you only read one novel about the Great War this year, make it this one -- M.C. Scott
Robert Wilton is one of the smartest novelists we have. A touch of Conrad, more than a dash of Buchan... and a daring prose style that can set you blinking and thinking. Simply brilliant -- John Lawton
A learned, beautifully written, elegant spy thriller -- Marcel Berlins * The Times *

[A] very rewarding work of historical spy fiction... intelligent and interesting... The comptrollerate-general is a brilliant invention

-- Nick Rennison * BBC History magazine *
Fascinating history, exciting narrative and a wonderfully gripping (true) yarn * The Bookbag *
Robert Wilton held a variety of posts in the British Government. He was advisor to the Prime Minister of Kosovo in the lead-up to the country's independence, and is now helping to run an international mission in Albania. Treason's Tide won the HWA/Goldsboro Crown for best historical debut; in addition to his novels he writes on international intervention and translates a little poetry. He divides his time between Cornwall and the Balkans.
