A commemoration of the major events in the life the Christian writer, C.S. Lewis. Explaining the key paths in his life, including his relationship with Joy Gresham and his conversion to Christianity, it also remembers major publishing events and his first encounter with the world of Narnia.
Born in Ireland in 1898, Lewis gained a triple First at Oxford and was Fellow and Tutor at Magdalen College from 1925-54. In 1954 he became Professor of Mediaeval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge. Lesley Walmsley, the compiler, joined the Religious Division at HarperCollins in 1976, where she developed an interest in the life and writings of C.S. Lewis. She previously worked at the BBC, the United Bible Societies and the World Association for Christian Communications.
