Steve Meyerowitz was nicknamed Sproutman in the 1970s because his New York City apartment was always packed with gardens of home-grown, organic baby vegetables. They were part of his lifetime fight against chronic allergies and asthma. After twenty years of disappointment with conventional medicine techniques, he became symptom-free through his personally designed program of diet, raw juices, and fasting. In 1980 he founded The Sprout House, a no-cooking school in New York City teaching the benefits of a living foods, vegetarian diet. Steve is a health crusader and author of ten books including Power Juices Super Drinks, Wheatgrass Nature's Finest Medicine, Juice Fasting and Detoxification, and Food Combining and Digestion. He has been featured on PBS, the Home Shopping Network, QVC, TV Food Network, and in Better Nutrition, Prevention, Organic Gardening and House & Garden magazines. His home-sprouters, the Freshlife Automatic Sprouter and the Hemp Sprout Bag, used for indoor organic gardening, are sold worldwide.
