St. Joseph First Book of Saints by Lovasik L
First Book of Saints, by popular author Rev. Lawrence G. Lovasik, S.V.D., introduces early readers to the lives of 40 well-known and beloved Saints. The stories of these holy men and women can help children understand the beauty of the way they lived and come to appreciate their saintly example. Reading about their lives can encourage children to share these Saints' faith and joy by showing their love for God and those around them. This encounter with the Saints begins and ends with a beautiful prayer. In addition, each story is accompanied by a full-page, full-color illustration.
Father Lawrence G. Lovasik, S.V.D., was born in 1913 at Tarentum, Pennsylvania. Born to Slovak parents, he was the oldest of eight children, and became a student of the Sacred Heart Mission Seminary at the age of twelve. In 1938, he was ordained a priest and subsequently began missionary work in the coal and steel regions of the United States. He was drawn to writing as a result of his desire to represent Christ among the people he served as a missionary. Father Lovasik is the author of A Novena of Holy Communions, What Catholics Believe, and Clean Love in Courtship.
