The new Detail in Building series provides a foundation of contemporary design data covering key elements of building design. Each example is analysed through detailed drawings and photographs, and the solution examined in full context. MICHAEL SPENS is a practising architect, author and critic. His recent publications include Will Alsop Le Grand Bleu, Marseilles (1994) and Alvar Aalto, Viipuri Library (Academy, 1994). He has won several design awards and contributes to Architectural Design and The Architectural Review.
