Loren Eiseley, a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, lectured at Harvard, Columbia, and the University of California, among others. He was the head of the American Institute of Human Paleontology and a regular contributor to Harper's, American Scholar, and Gentry, among other publications. He was a Professor of History and Science at the University of Pennsylvania when he died in 1977.
