Stargazy Pie by Laura Lockington

Poppy knows that almost any family looks odd from the outside. But the Stantons are definitely odder than most...When Poppy Hazleton succumbs to her boss Davey Stanton's plea to join him and his family for Christmas, she has no idea what she's letting herself in for. A bunch of engaging Cornish eccentrics introduce her to the delights of roof races, surviving blizzards and dancing with the bishop - before inextricably entangling her in their complex machinations over the inheritance of the crumbling family pile. All this and Poppy has an unwanted pet monkey to contend with. Not to mention the rather more tempting problem of Davey's gorgeous younger brother...
Laura Lockington was born in Kent but, via interludes in Cornwall, Florence and London, has now settled in Brighton. She has been married, more than once, but vows never to do it again - at least not unless too many vodka martinis prevail over her better judgement. She has had a varied career, working in TV, films, theatre and interior design, but in 1999 abandoned the rat race to write her first novel, Capers in the Sauce. She has grown out of clubbing and taken up cooking for friends instead, but is a firm believer in one's unalienable right to behave disreputably if necessary.
