Statistics Made Simple by Nimit Chowdhary
This textbook provides an accessible introduction to statistical reasoning for learners who find quantitative methods challenging yet recognize data's essential role in research. As the third volume in a foundational series, it bridges basic research methodology and advanced statistical analysis through a concept-first, application-oriented approach. Using clear language and real-life contexts rather than dense mathematical formulations, it covers topics from data types and descriptive statistics to hypothesis testing, t-tests, ANOVA, and regression.
The book emphasizes interpretation, decision-making, and research relevance, making abstract concepts intuitive through everyday examples. Pedagogical features including chapter vignettes, recap sections, conceptual questions, and applied exercises reinforce understanding and promote active learning. It also introduces commonly used research tools and software for independent study.
Ideal for undergraduate and postgraduate students, early-career researchers, and interdisciplinary learners, this essential resource builds confidence in statistical reasoning across social science disciplines and beyond. It equips readers with skills to formulate research questions, analyze data, and draw evidence-based conclusions, providing a coherent learning pathway for developing competence in statistical methods.
