Courtney Sheinmel is the author of the YA novels My So-Called Family, Positively, and the Stella Batts series for young readers, as well as the upcoming Agnes & Clarabelle early chapter book series and YA novel Edgewater. Her novels have won various accolades, including the Sequoyah Award (Positively) and a National Parenting Publication Awards honorable mention (the Stella Batts series), as well as being included on recommended lists such as the New York Public Library's Things for the Adolescent and the ABC Best Books for Children. In addition to writing, Courtney has acted as a judge for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards on a national level, and she has received a National Scholastic Distinguished Educator Award for her work as a writing instructor at Writopia Lab, a non-profit organization that serves children aged 8 to 18.
