Stepping Stones to the Stars by Terry C Treadwell
Stepping Stones to the Stars is the story of manned spaceflight from its inception to the era of the Space Shuttle. There is also the little-known story of what is thought to be the earliest manned rocket flight, said to have taken place in 1933 on the island of Rugen in the Baltic under the control of the German War Ministry.
TERRY TREADWELL served in the Royal Air Force in communications and has travelled the world, including working in Australia. He was European Correspondent for Naval Aviation News (the official aviation magazine of the US Navy) for five years. Terry has written many articles for various magazines and 20 books, a number of which have been published by The History Press. He lives in Bournemouth.
