Still William - TV tie-in edition by Richmal Crompton

`If all girls are like that -’ said William. `Well, when you think of all the hundreds of girls there must be in the world – well, it makes you feel sick.’ William’s natural desire to do the right thing leads him into serious trouble, as usual, and when blackmail and kidnapping are involved, it’s no surprise. Even when he turns over a new leaf, the consequences are dire. But it’s his new neighbour Violet Elizabeth Bott who really causes chaos – and no one will believe that it’s not William’s fault . . .
Richmal Crompton was born in Lancashire in 1890. The first story about William Brown appeared in Home magazine in 1919, and the first collection of William stories was published in book form three years later. In all, thirty-eight William books were published, the last one in 1970, after Richmal Crompton’s death Sir Tony Robinson is most famous for playing the role of Baldrick in Blackadder but he made his first professional appearance at the age of thirteen in the original stage version of Oliver! and went on to appear with the Chichester Festival Theatre, the RSC and the National Theatre.
