STONE AGE BRITAIN by Geza Vermes
Focusing on Britain, this introduction to Palaeolithic archaeology asks questions such as: when and how was Europe inhabited?; was the Neanderthal a club-wielding brute or a pacifist?; and were the Neanderthal burials simply a method of rubbish disposal or did they have an element of ritual?Géza Vermes was a world-renowned specialist on the historical Jesus, Christian origins, and the Dead Sea Scrolls, and was Professor Emeritus of Jewish Studies at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. He popularized the concept of Jesus as a 1st-century Jewish holy man with the publication of Jesus the Jew (1973). His book The Dead Sea Scrolls in English (1962) was the first to introduce the Scrolls to an English audience, selling over half a million copies.
