In the six years since graduating from Iowa State University, where he was an engineering student and an academic All-American, Paul Shirley has played for eleven professional basketball teams. He blogged about his experiences with the Phoenix Suns on the NBA's website while with the team in 2005. Shirley writes a column for ESPN called My So-Called Career when he isn't trying to break into another pro team, and he has even co-written and produced a television pilot based on his basketball career.
