The Story of the Minack Chronicles by Derek Tangye
In "Time Was Mine", Derek Tangue recounts his journey around the world via America, the South Sea Islands, Australia, Japan, China, Russia and Germany - tasting romance on Tahiti and glimpsing pre-war Hollywood. Through the publication of that book, Derek met his wife Jeannie. And so the story of the "Minack Chronicles", the series of books that have, for over 30 years, touched readers the world over. The first two are included here. "A Gull on the Roof" tells how they gave up glamorous London lives - Derek's with MI5 and Jeannie's as Public Relations Officer of the Savoy Hotel Group - for the tranquility of Minack, a Cornish clifftop cottage where they started a flower farm. "A Cat in the Window" is a tribute to Monty, the Tangye's famous marmalade cat. Derek Tangye is the author of "Monty's Leap".
Derek Tangye was educated at Harrow and subsequently worked as a journalist on national newspapers. During the war and afterwards he was a member of MI5, before he and Jeannie moved to Minack. Jeannie died in 1986 and Derek in 1996.
