The Straits of Florida by Marty Cox

The Straits of Florida is a story told through the eyes of its' three main characters at a time when Cuba's Batista was overthrown and Castro came to power. An American Navy pilot stationed at Guantanamo, Cuba is befriended by a Cuban family shortly before Castro becomes President and falls in love with their daughter. Due to the developing anti- American atmosphere he is forced to return to the States. The family's son joins Castro's army, becomes disenchanted and flees to the United States where he joins the American to free Cuba from new oppression. The daughter, through an unknown benefactor, is studying to become a doctor but prevented by Cuban government law to leave the island. The Straits of Florida is a perfect example of how life's, wheel of fortune, effected three people's lives.
After leaving the United States Navy, Marty Cox traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and South America and now resides in Southern California.
