Streets Broad and Narrow by Kevin Corrigan Kearns
Social geographer Kevin C. Kearns has been exploring the urban landscape of inner-city Dublin for almost 30 years. His oral histories amount to a chronicle of Dublin city life in recent generations. During all his visits to Dublin, he has taken photographs as well as oral evidence. Out of his collection he has now made a selection of the best to provide a visual chronicle of Dublin inner-city life over a generation. This is a grass-roots collection that portrays common people going about their ordinary daily life - weathered street dealers, crusty horse traders, gang kids, street buskers, pavement gamblers and frolicking kids.
Kevin C. Kearns, Ph.D., is a social historian and Professor Emeritus at the University of Northern Colorado. He has made thirty research trips to Ireland, a number of which have been funded by the National Geographic Society. Of his seven books on Dublin, four have been bestsellers, most notably 'Dublin Tenement Life: An Oral History' and 'Dublin Pub Life and Lore'. He now resides in the village of Charlotte, Vermont.
