…..musically inclusive arrangements, where the open string parts, if not integral to the harmonic whole, seem to comment on it, drawing on its rhythmic impetus and phrasing to provide inputs which are musically congruous and make musical sense…That said, the more conventional arrangements…also work well, showing great understanding of the things young players find hard but which don’t need labouring over….These arrangements really bring the pianist to the fore – providing musical scaffolding and enabling children to ‘catch’ some sophisticated virtuosic nuances. It’s fun music, well arranged, and very concert friendly. Players and audiences alike will love it.
