Student Practice Test Booklet in Reading and Writing by Leslie Knight
This book is intended to be used by the upper elementary grades, mainly grades 3 to 5. Many of the passages are challenging so the student is forced to read the stories with an analytic mind. It is a unique approach in the sense that the student who is in fourth grade can still attempt some of the passages that are intended for the third grade and move forward to his focus grade. Likewise, a student who is in fifth grade can attempt to respond to some of the passages that are intended for the lower grades and move forward. Parents and teachers can pace the tests in such a way that they will have ample time to correct problems and weaknesses as well as reinforce skills and concepts in comprehension and writing.
Leslie is a career teacher. His experience spans from elementary school to high school. He is much interested in the academic foundation of the elementary school. Writing tests is not new to him. He is a keen observer of children and knows how children learn. He is aware of the several modalities in teaching and learning. However, he is also aware that children need practice in order to achieve mastery. He had been involved in the correction of the State and City tests. He saw the weaknesses and the strengths of the students. He knows the needs of the students and he can help to provide some of the essentials to ensure greater progress. Leslie Knight has been a teacher, a staff developer, a mentor and an Assistant Principal. This knowledge has given him the experience and the authority to write books that can help in the academic performance of the students.
