Lorraine M. Papazian-Boyce, MS, CPC, is an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS trainer and teaches online at The College of Health Care Professions, which is based in Houston, Texas. An award-winning author and instructor, she received the Most Promising New Textbook Award-2016 from the Textbook and Academic Authors Association for this text. She also authored the Pearson text ICD-10-CM/PCS Coding: A Map for Success, which received the Most Promising New Textbook Award-2013. In 2011, Lorraine was named Educator of the Year-Instruction by Career Education Corporation (CEC). A frequent speaker in this field, Lorraine has over 35 years of experience in healthcare administration as a college instructor in both traditional and online settings; owner of a medical billing service; office manager; consultant to hospitals, nursing homes, and physicians; and board of directors officer. She has taught most aspects of healthcare operations and reimbursement, both to practicing professionals and in a formal academic career college setting. As a former employer and externship coordinator, she also knows what today's students need to succeed in the medical workplace.
