Style For Actors by Robert Barton
A book on classical acting style. Suitable for the actor ready to move beyond contemporary realism into the less familiar acting territory of historical periods and genres, it features exercises to enable both the individual actor and groups to find, explore and achieve convincing 'style'.
Robert Barton is Professor Emeritus of acting at the University of Oregon. As well as writing a regular column for The Voice and Speech Review, he is the author of Acting: Onstage and Off, Voice: Onstage and Off, Theatre in Your Life, and Life Themes. The first edition of Style for Actors received the Theatre Association's Best Book award.
