SUbstance by Scripture Union
SUbstance volume 9, entitled I AM, is the final part in the successful and well-received SUbstance programme of discipleship resources for 14 to 18s. Building on previous volumes, this resource will help the young people grow their faith and get to know God better through group Bible study and praying together. It contains ten Bible based resources, grouped into two modules. The first module (of four sessions) is called 'I AM WHO I AM' and it examines the story of Moses and the Exodus from Egypt. The story of God rescuing his people is explored, together with God's calling of Moses. Themes covered include God's calling and provision, justice and judgement and being holy. The second module, made up of six sessions, focuses on Jesus' I am statements from John. These remarkable and life-changing statements are examined in a way to help young people begin to understand them, and so understand more of who Jesus is. The hope is that through doing this, young people's relationships with Jesus will be deepened and strengthened. Each session is made up of a leaders' introduction, introductory activities, Bible exploration and response opportunities.
