Students learn to understand that one's internship is an individual experience, the result of a complex interaction between the individuals and groups that make up the placement site and each individual intern.
King, Mary A.: - Mary A. King, Professor Emerita, Fitchburg State University, and NSEE Distinguished Scholar of experiential education, has more than 30 years' experience working with interns and brings a background in public education, juvenile justice, and clinical practice to her academic work. Mary instructed courses in professional and ethical issues, taught service-learning classes, and developed and coordinated the field placement office and supervised graduate and undergraduate internships in the Behavioral Sciences. She publishes in human services and experiential education and has held leadership positions on regional and national education boards, including the National Society for Experiential Education. Mary is a member of the Academic Advisory Group of United Planet and serves on the Board of Directors of the Hypersomnia Foundation.
