A former Head of English, she has extensive experience of teaching. She has acted as both subject and professional mentor to ITE students on school placement. Kate has interests in literacy and gender issues. Melanie Pope is an Assisstant Professor at the Institute of Education, University of Warwick. She is Deputy Course Leader for the Secondary PGCE and teaches on the Secondary PGCE English with Drama course. Melanie has worked in schools in the West Midlands where she was Literacy Co-ordinator and a Leading Teacher. Her research interests include children′s and teacher′s metalinguistic awareness and the emotional implications of learning.
