In this second book in the series, which features some of the characters from the previous book in minor roles, teen Laurel's twin sister, Honor is killed trying to rescue the fairy realm by finding the Summer King. So Laurel, the non-believer, is left to mourn her sister and complete her quest. In the process, she comes to see that there is magic in the world and that love can be found in unexpected places. Lush descriptions of Ireland, romance, and Celtic mythology make this a satisfying read for fans of the previous book and anyone who loves Ireland.
O.R. Melling was born in Ireland and grew up in Canada with her seven sisters and two brothers. As an adolescent, she was a champion Irish dancer and competed in many American cities. At eighteen years old, she hitch-hiked across Canada and down to California where she lived for several months. As an officer Cadet in the Canadian Naval Reserve, she worked her way through university, acheiving a B.A. in Celtic Studies and Philosophy and an M.A. in medieval Irish History. "To travel hopefully" is her motto and she has visited such faraway places as Malaysia, Borneo, India, Denmark, Outer Hebrides, Alaska, and Canada's Northwest Territories. To date, her books have been translated into Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Sloveniian, and Czech. She lives in her hometown of Bray, County Wocklow, Ireland, with her teenage daughter, Findabhair.
