Survivors Song by Delia Owens

The sequel to "Cry of the Kalahari", this book follows on from when the Owens return to the Kalahari to continue their study of elephants. As soon as they arrive, however, they are deported because of their open criticism of the government's soft stance on wildlife conservation. The Owens eventually return to Africa to continue their research at the remote Luangwa National Park in Zambia. It is there they discover the remains of hundreds of poached elephants. Abandoning their study project, the Owens begin a long struggle to raise consciousness about preservation, not only among high-ranking officials living off black market ivory but also among the villagers who depend on elephant meat for food.
